Obituary for Ina M. “Mowery” Cardinal
Ina Marie Cardinal, 86, of Vincennes, passed away Wednesday June 6, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Ina was born January 25, 1932 in Green Co., the daughter of William H. Mowery and Clara Cooksey. She married Robert J. Cardinal on January 16, 1951 and they made their life together until his death on April 4, 2014. She worked for the North Knox school cooperation for 23 years as the food service director. Ina formerly worked along with her husband and family on the family dairy farm along with working at S.S. Kresge’s. She was a member of Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church in Bicknell IN where she was a member of the altar society. She and her husband, Bob, was awarded the Brute Society Medal in 2013 for their commitment to their faith and St. Philip Neri Church.
She is survived by her daughters Pamela Jane Jones of Monroe City, IN, Paula Jean Adams and her husband John of Vincennes IN, and Gayle Ann Crockett and her husband Kurt of Vincennes, IN. Her grandchildren, Garry R. Jones, Marcus Jones, Jill Rauh, Sarah McGregor, Bobbie Garner, Jake Crockett and James Cody Crockett. Her great grandchildren, Colton McGregor, Jarrod Devine, Lane Garner, Darvin Garner, William “Ace“ Garner, Grace Ann Jones, Austin Jones, Keaton Jones, Riley Hudson, Connor Hudson, Josie Rauh, Halle Crockett and Isaac Jackson. A great-great grandchild, Breelyn McGregor. She is also survived by her brother, Elmer Mowery of Worthington, IN, her sisters, Marcella McDonald of Linton, IN, Ethel Griffith of Linton, IN and Carolyn Guesman of Punta Gorda, FL. She is also survived by a special friend to her family, Rosemary McGuire and her family and Zachary McGuire, whom she mentored and helped Ina, along with her daughters, taking care of her daily needs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Cardinal, a great grandson, Memphis L. Riker, her parents, 4 brothers, James Mowery, Franklin Mowery, William Mowery and Carroll Mowery and 5 sisters Edna Rhoten, Martha Summerville, Mary Jane Yates, Helen Acord and Effie Smiley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday June 11, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church with Fr. David Martin officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Stafford Cemetery next to her husband in Linton, IN. The family will receive friends Sunday June 10, 2018 from 4 to 7 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel, Bicknell, IN. Memorial contributions can be in her memory to the Stafford Cemetery for the perpetual care fund.
