Obituary for Edna M. Gilmore

Edna M. Gilmore, 97, of Bicknell, IN passed away Saturday July 21, 2012 at 1:30 AM at the Sullivan County Hospital with her family at her bedside. She was born June 18, 1915 in Freelandville, IN daughter of William & Eva Wessel Meier. She was a graduate of Freelandville High School, on December 20, 1934, she married Ernest B. Gilmore, and they made their life together for nearly 60 years until his death in 2004. She worked at Tresslar’s five & Dime and she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a member of the Bicknell Christian Church, Tri Kappa and she attended the Carlisle Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Rita McCann, and her husband Ralph of Carlisle, IN, Sharon Junod of Vincennes, IN and Sandra Riggs, and her husband Larry of Carmel, IN. A daughter in law, Judy Gilmore of Edwardsport, IN her grandchildren, Andrea McCann, Aaron McCann, Melony Gilmore, Donna Hastings, Don Gilmore II, Lori Buskirk, Duke Junod, Julia Conway, Jennifer Halliburton, Johnna Mishelow, Brad Hellyer, and Erik Hellyer. 16 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Donald R. Gilmore, 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
Funeral Services will be celebrated Tuesday July 24, 2012 at 12:00 at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel with Ron Barnes and Rev. Michael Irvine officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Bethel Church Cemetery in Freelandville, IN. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Bicknell Christian Church or the Carlisle Methodist Church at the funeral home.
