Agnes K. Ottensmeyer, 95, of Vincennes, passed away Thursday April 19, 2018 at the Bridge Pointe Health Center with her family at her bedside. Agnes was born September 4, 1922 in Knox County the daughter of Chris and Cecelia Kaiser Vieck. She attended St. Thomas Church and went to St. Thomas Grade School. She married Edward J. Ottensmeyer Jr on Jan 22, 1943 and they began 65 years of married life together until his death on May 6, 2008. She was a homemaker, co owned Ottensmeyer Real Estate with her husband, and was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Past President of Sacred Heart Altar Society and was Past President of the Pink Ladies of Good Samaritan Hospital. Agnes was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an example of what a dignified lady should be. She was a great listener always concerned about whom ever she was talking with about their family and concerns. Â
She is survived by her family, Edward Ottensmeyer III, and his wife Anne, of Mattapoisett, Mass., Mike Ottensmeyer, and his wife, Joy of Atlanta, GA, Mary Catt and her husband, Doug of Danville, IN, Kathy Nelson, and her husband Steve of Ft. Branch, IN, Patrick Ottensmeyer of Kansas City, MO. She was blessed by her grandchildren, Jane Ottensmeyer, Shelby Mitchell, Eric Ottensmeyer, Ben Catt, Betsy Snyder, Jeff Nelson, Jennifer Hopf, Stephanie Spindler, Amy Ottensmeyer, Cindy Ottensmeyer, Lisa Ottensmeyer, Matthew Sievers, Katie Hull, Devon Rhoads. Great Grandchildren, Jack Mitchell, Evelyn Mitchell, Nicholas Ottensmeyer, Clara Snyder, Ophelia Snyder, Isabelle Catt, Cecilia Catt, Charlie Catt, Sidnee Nelson, Connor Nelson, Ashlyn Hopf, Riley Hopf, Blake Spindler, Justin Spindler, Nathan Spindler, Ava Sievers, Jacob Sievers, Javier Nunez and Kyra Nunez. Her brothers, Maurice Vieck, Joseph Vieck and Dr. Charles Vieck D.D.S. and his wife Mary Lou, her sisters, Rita Primus and Loretta Holl all of Vincennes, IN.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Ottensmeyer, Jr., her daughter, Linda Rhoads, her parents, her brothers, Fr. Larry Vieck, Fr. Hillary Vieck, and Richard Vieck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday April 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. David Fleck officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home on Sunday April 22, 2018. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Good Samaritan Hospice or St. Vincent DePaul. Duesterberg-Fredrick is honored to assist the family
