Obituary for Albert R Dollahan
Albert (Red) Richard Dollahan, 93, of Vincennes IN went to be with the Lord on Saturday afternoon June the 4, 2016 while at Good Samaritan Hospital. Albert was born April 28th, 1923 in Knox County Indiana to Richard Dollahan & Estella Mae (Fredrick) Dollahan Boyd. Albert was part of the 1940 graduating class from Lincoln High School. He graduated with perfect attendance. After graduation he worked for a Service Station at 7th & Main. He then served 3 years in Iceland during WWII as part of operation E.T.O. After returning from the war he found work in Alaska on the railroad from 1948�1949. On June 11th 1950, Albert married Mary Margaret Bouchie. During their almost 65 years of marriage Albert reclaimed his love for automobiles and worked several jobs to be close to them. After the war and his work in Alaska, he rekindled his love for cars and more importantly his love for helping people find the vehicle to help fit their lives & needs. He spent 22 years as a service manager for �Barr Buick�, followed by working 8 years in sales at �Memering Buick�. During his time at �Memering Motorplex�, Albert received numerous awards including the �Top 2% Salesman in the Nation�. In 1987, he ended his automotive career after working 5 years at Westport Auto, in Westport IL. During retirement, Albert and Mary joined the �Hoosier Cruiser� car club with their 1972 Buick LeSabre & their honeymoon car which is a 1948 Buick Super Convertible. In 1965, Albert joined St. John�s Catholic Church. Not only did he become a member of the church but he was also very active with duties ranging from helping at picnics to being a lay Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus for over 15 years, where he was a life member and a 3rd degree knight. Other groups Albert was actively involved with ranged from but not limited to life time memberships to the Knights of Columbus, V.F.W., American Legion, the Moose, the Eagles, T.P.A., and the Wisdom Program. Albert�s surviving family is his children; Daniel & Kathy (Rich) Dollahan of Hansen KY, Patricia (Dollahan) & Brian Cary of Vincennes IN, his brother, Tom Dollahan, sisters; Connie Warren, Jackie Pugh, Lindy Allen, & Marilyn Haynes all of northern Indiana. His grandchildren; Aaron Cary, Brad & Carrie Cary, Tia (Dollahan) & Johnny Dickerson, Nathan Dollahan & Alex Grimm, & Tara Dollahan. Albert�s great grandchildren; Dalton, Jacob, Isaac, Caitlyn, & Brady Cary. Albert is preceded in death by his wife, parents, 7 brothers, 2 sisters, several brother & sister in� laws, & a grandson. Albert has touched the hearts of many people during his 93 years on earth and will be greatly missed. A Mass and Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St John�s Catholic Church with Fr. David Fleck officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2016 at Duesterberg-�Fredrick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to St. John�s Catholic Church, Good Samaritan Hospice, &/or the local pet port.
