Obituary for Anthonette Sievers


Anthonette (Kocher) Sievers, 86, of Vincennes, IN, passed away Wednesday February 11, 2026 at Villages at Oak Ridge Nursing Center. Anthonette was born November 23, 1939 in Vincennes, the daughter of Wilfred and Grace M. Land Kocher. She was a 1957 graduate of Lincoln High School, on April 28, 1962, she married Samuel “Sam” Sievers, and they made their life together for nearly 64 years. Anthonette was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic community. She taught religious education for over 40 years at Sacred Heart, Flaget/Rivet and St. Vincent Catholic Church. She served in anyway she could. She also worked at Flaget in the cafeteria and as teachers aid, at First Federal Savings and Loan and at Vincennes Sun Commercial. She held memberships in the Church Women United, Purdue Women’s Homemakers, Daughter's of Isabella, a former Pink Lady at Good Samaritan Hospital and president of the Friends of the Library. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.


Anthonette is survived by her husband, Sam Sievers, and their children, Maria R. (Jeff) Sievers - Perotti of Bloomington, IN, Robert M. (Sarah) Sievers of Mooresville, IN, Louis A. Sievers of Vincennes, IN, Laura A. Schilling of Washington, IN and Charles A. (Nadine) Sievers of Mooresville, IN. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christina Costello, Anna Schilling, Elizabeth Meier, Molly Tieman, Stephen Sievers, Grace Sievers and Tessa Perotti and by her 2 great grandchildren, Alex Meier and Sophia Costello, her brothers, Bill Kocher of Vincennes, IN, David (Ann) Kocher of Austin, TX, Harold (Susan) Kocher of Sellersburg, IN and James Kocher of Marion, IN.


Anthonette was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred and Grace Kocher.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday February 14, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until the time of services at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Labre Indian School, 112 St Labre Way Campus Drive, Ashland, MT 59003 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist Anthonette’s family during their time of loss.
