Anthony Scott "Butch" Smith, 63, of Vincennes, passed away on March 19th, 2025, in his home. Anthony was born on September 9th, 1961 in Indianapolis, IN, the son of Andrew Smith and Patricia Peach Stangle.
Anthony graduated from South Knox High School. He later enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving for 10 years. Throughout his life, Anthony held several jobs, but he truly dedicated his life to his family. A beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Brother, nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his family. Anthony married his wife, Sue, on October 27th, 1989 in a ceremony in Vincennes. They enjoyed life together for 35 years. In 1990, they welcomed their only son, Jeffery. Anthony was baptized into Christ on February 3rd, 2015
Anthony is remembered by his family for his love and his laugh. He loved coaching his son in youth sports and chaperoning field trips. He was an avid fan of the Indiana Hoosiers, Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Reds.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Sue Smith, of Vincennes, son, Jeffery Smith and his wife Cammie of Evansville, brothers Tim Smith, of Decker, Ronnie Smith and his wife Gina, of Ft. Branch, and Jimmy Smith, of Oakland City, sisters Patsy Russell and her husband Larry, of Decker, Nita Tewell and her husband Dave, of Vincennes, Pamela Westfall-Evans and her husband Terry, of Decker, and Lucy Reed, of Bridgeport, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Emberlynn and Tyson Smith, who he loved dearly.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Smith and Patricia Peach Stangle, as well as one brother, Chuck Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, March 24th at 1:00 p.m. at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Albritton officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Good Samaritan Hospice in Vincennes. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist Anthony's family during their time of loss.
