Obituary for Bessie M. Hager
Obituary for Bessie M. Hager Bessie M. McKee Hager, 90, of Vincennes, passed away at the Riverview Center in St. Louis under the care of her daughter. She was born December 23, 1922 in Bruceville, IN the daughter of John M. & Mary Elizabeth Jones McKee. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and she married James Cyrus Hager on October 19, 1945 when he returned from WW II. They made their life together for 53 years until his death in 1998. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She is survived by Carole Miller, and her husband John of St. Louis, MO and Myrna Stevens of Lawrenceville, IL, 6 grandchildren, Cynthia Miller-Higdon, and her husband Ernest, Pandy Hedge, Amy De Francesco, and her husband Joseph, James Callahan, and his wife Kelly, Heather Horner, and her husband Benjamin, Martha Jackson, and her husband Robert. She is also survived by 21 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, a sister, Helen Hunter of Vincennes and a brother, Leroy Smith and his wife Nancy of Terre Haute, IN. She will be missed by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 3 brothers, Alvin, Earl and Herschel and 3 sisters, Glenda, Mary and Aline. Funeral services will be celebrated Friday November 8, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Pastor Pete White officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Bethlehem General Baptist Church Righteous Apparel Program.
