Obituary for David L. “Woody” Morwood
David L. “Woody” Morwood, 70, of Vincennes, passed away Monday April 24, 2017 at 2:39AM with his family at his bedside. Woody was born September 26, 1946 in Vincennes the son of Dave and Marjorie LeCocq Morwood. He was a graduate of North Knox High School in 1965, upon graduation he left for the U.S. Air Force. On May 21, 1967 he married Mary Joann Frederick and they made their life together for nearly 50 years. He served his country for over 22 years having attained the rank of Captain. He served during the Vietnam War as a Air Medic Rescue having been a paramedic. He received his bachelors degree from Wright State University and in 1978 he received his masters from Central Missouri State University in business. After retirement he worked at ATS in Lawrenceville, IL. He was a member of the Methodist faith, he held membership in the ABATE of Indiana Motorcycle Club for over 25 years. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Joann Morwood, their children, Kimberly Mael, and her husband Scott of Youngsville, NC, Misty Halbert, and her husband Darin of Martinsville, IN and Shawn Morwood, and his wife Kandis of Plymouth, IN. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amber Lastra, and her husband Jorge, Ashley Halbert, Kayla Halbert, Kara Morwood and Isaac Morwood. His great granddaughter, Kylie Lastra and a brother Richard Morwood, and his wife Sue of Wichita, KS also survive
A celebration of his life will take place at 8:00 PM Thursday April 27, 2017 at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM with Pastor Jon McKinnon officiating. Scott Air Force Base Military honors detachment will conduct the honors ceremony. Memorial contributions can be made in his honor to the Indiana Patriot Guard Riders through the funeral home.
