Obituary for Dempson "Jerry" Haney
Dempson "Jerry" Haney, 81 of Bicknell, IN, passed away November 17, 2021at Freelandville Community Home at 10:39 PM, He was born June 23, 1940 in Odon, IN the son of Royal Haney and Genieve Riggle Haney Erwin. Jerry served his county in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962 and on September 15, 1962 he married Elizabeth "Betty" Stanczak and they made their life together for over 56 years until her death on November 17, 2018. He retired from Crane in 1992 where he worked as a quality control inspector. He held memberships in the Elks, Masonic Lodge and the French Club. He enjoyed sports car's, motorcycle's, camping, boating, traveling, flying planes and playing the guitar and piano.
Jerry is survived by a daughter, Genevive (Bob) Evans of Bicknell, IN, son, Jerry (Cheryl) Haney of Oaktown, IN, grandchildren, Carrie Cates, Dempson Jerry Haney III, Ben Evans, Tyler Haney, Elizabeth Evans and Brayton Haney. six great grandchildren, a brother, Max Haney of Edwardsport, IN and a sister, Timaline Walker of Orland, CA and a sister in law, Janice Haney of Bicknell, IN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Haney, his parents, Royal Haney and Genieve Haney Erwin, a sister, Jennis Plummer and a brother Lon Haney.
Funeral services will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday November 22, 2021 at Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel with Pastor Jon McKinnon officiating. Jerry will be laid to rest next to his wife, Betty in the Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Sunday November 21, 2021 at the funeral and prior to the services on Monday. Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to the donor’s charity of choice. Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel is honored to assist the Haney family during their time of loss.
