Dixie Ann Bouchie, 84, of Vincennes, passed away at her home at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, with her daughter at her bedside. Dixie was born on June 29, 1935 in Oaktown, the daughter of Landrey and LaVaughn Benefiel Horn. Dixie graduated from Oaktown High School in 1953 and from the Vincennes Business College. She was a licensed insurance agent in several states during her 40-yearcareer in the insurance industry. Dixie married Paul R. Bouchie on August 11, 1956, in St. John Catholic Church, and they made their life together for nearly 59 years. Dixie was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and was very involved in many church activities including liturgy lector, Prayer Warriors, Eucharistic adoration, Bible studies, the Ladies Tuesday Rosary Group, and she enjoyed daily Mass.
Dixie is survived by her daughter, Denise Gartner, of Vincennes, her grandson, Nicholas Gartner, of Evansville, her granddaughter, Janelle Gartner, of Vincennes, and her beloved grand dog, Lou. She is survived by a sister, Linda George, of Louisville, Kentucky. Also surviving are half-sisters Shannon (Marlin) Weisheit of Boonville, Hester (Tom) Lubbehusen of Dale, Rita Hammond of Pensacola, Florida, and half-brother Chris (Doris) Horn of Lynnville. Dixie is also survived by one brother-in-law, Robert Kramer, of Vincennes and by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her niece, Shayne Zanetis, of Louisville, Kentucky, her nephew Blair, and by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Ernst and Fr. Simon Natha officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 15, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with the recitation of the Rosary beginning at 7:30. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Vincennes Catholic Schools.
