Obituary for Donald R. Collins
Donald R. Collins, 76, of Vincennes, IN passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN with his family at his bedside. Don was born August 29, 1947 in Vincennes, IN the son of Donald G. and Elizabeth F. Snyder Collins. He was a 1966 graduate of North Knox High School and began working at National Homes in Bicknell, IN. He then worked at Brown Shoe and Good Samaritan Hospital. He retired from Good Samaritan Hospital and continued working at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. On November 23, 1968 he married Mary Lou Hart and they began their life together for nearly 52 years until her death on April 24, 2020. Don also took care of St. James Episcopal Church, where he was a member, he was formerly active in local Boy Scouts and he enjoyed working outside mowing and gardening.
Don is survived by his family, a son, Eric Collins, and his wife Anna of Vincennes, IN, his grandchildren, Ashley Carlson, and her husband Skylar, Ty Mullins, Joboa Mullins and Crystal Kline. His great grandchildren, Isabella Kline, William Anderson, Nicholas Thorne, Peyton Mullins, Alliana Cox, Amaya Mullins, Blaze Carlson, Oliver Carlson and Damon Phillippe. He is also survived by a brother, Gray Collins and his family of Clinton, IN.
Gravesite services to celebrate his life will be conducted on Monday June 10, 2024 at 2;00 PM at Asbury Chapel Cemetery with Chaplin Trevor Murray officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Mary Lou. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to St. James Episcopal Church, Vincennes Pet Port or the Diabetic Assn. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist the Collins family during their time of loss.
