Obituary for Donald R. Gilmore Jr.
Donald (Donnie) Ray Gilmore, Jr. was born to Don and Judy (Martin) Gilmore at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes on August 26, 1968. He passed away at his home on October 20, 2018 surrounded by his family and loved ones. Donnie was a lifetime resident of Northern Knox County and a 1986 graduate of the North Knox High School. Donnie also held degrees from Vincennes University. Donnie was a man dedicated to Jesus Christ and his beloved family. He was a passionate farmer and a great outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising cattle. Donnie was a member of the Edwardsport United Methodist Church since childhood and attended Mariah Creek Christian Church. Donnie worked in the farming community nearly his entire life. He worked alongside his lifelong friend, Randy Hammelman, with whom he had a brotherly bond. Donnie loved to raise cattle and enjoyed being part of the cattle showing community. Most of all, he loved the Lord and his family.

Donnie was married to his soulmate and loving wife Sherry Gregg Gilmore. And together they successfully blended their family.
Donnie is survived by his wife Sherry Gregg Gilmore, son Donald Ray Gilmore III, his wife Britney and their children Audrey, Joslyn and Graydon, son Tyler Gilmore, his wife Jayda and their children Gibson and Grant, son John Blackwood Gregg, and son Hunter Wallace Gregg. His Mother, Judy Gilmore, sister Melony Gilmore, sister Donna Hastings and her husband Mike and their family, sister Lori Buskirk and her husband Buzzy, Niece Aubrey Bilskie and her husband Cort, nephew Ben Buskirk, great nieces and nephew Willow, Violet and Birch Bilskie, In-Laws Art and Becky Biddinger, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Donnie was preceded in death by his father, Donald Ray Gilmore, Sr., Granddaughter Bexley Gilmore, Great Nephew Boone Bilskie, Paternal grandparents E.B. and Edna Gilmore, Maternal grandparents Earl and Violet Martin, Aunt Janet Haney and Cousin Todd Haney.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be held Thursday October 25, 2018 at Mariah Creek Church with the family receiving friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. There will be a service of remembrance starting at 7:00 PM with Pastor Matt Hoffman officiating. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Donnie's honor to the Knox County 4-H Fair.
Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
