Obituary for Dorothy K. Seger
Dorothy K. Seger, 86, of Vincennes, passed away Monday July 9, 2018 at 5:10 PM at Bridge Pointe Nursing Center with her family at her bedside. Dorothy was born January 30, 1932 in Schnellville, IN the daughter of Bernard and Anna Humbert Theising. She was a graduate of Birdseye High School and on August 30, 1952 she married Claude A. Seger and they made their life together for nearly 50 years until his death on April 28, 2002. Dorothy worked in the food service industry having been the sales and catering manager at the Holiday Inn. She retired from J.C. Penny & CO after 20 years. She was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Parish/St. John Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Beverly Seger, and her husband Bill Herndon of Seymour, IN, Roger Seger, and his wife Ann of Vincennes, IN, Don Seger, and his wife Tammara of Lawrenceville, IL and Kurt Seger, and his wife Donna of Vincennes, IN. Her grandchildren, Logan Seger, Lauren White and her husband Chad, Evan Seger and Kristin Bottoms, and her husband Ryan. Brayden Seger and Quentin Seger. She is also survived by her sisters, Veronica Heldman of Celestine, IN, Irene Giesler, and her husband Sylvester of Jasper, Mary Ann Schmidt and her husband Louis of Jasper and a sister in law, Helen Theising of Schnellville, IN.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Claude A. Seger, a daughter Mary Bernadette Seger, her parents and a brother, Hilbert Theising.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday July 13, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. John Catholic Church with Fr. David Fleck, Fr. Donald Ackerman and Fr. Ron Webber officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Thursday July 12, 2018. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Heart to Heart Hospice.
