Obituary for Ed Bezy III

Ed Bezy III, 65, of Vincennes, IN, passed away Sunday November 26, 2017 at 10:10 PM at his residence with his family at his bedside. Ed was born December 3, 1951 in Vincennes, IN the son of Ed Jr. and Gynthe Westfall Bezy. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School where he played football. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the U. S. Marines attaining the rank of Sgt. where he cleared mines aboard a helicopter to protect the carrier from damage. He also served as a rear gunner aboard a helicopter gunship. He married Nancy Bratton on August 16, 1975 and they made their life together for 42 years. Ed was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 3rd degree member of the K of C, American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed fishing, camping, working in his garden, his German Shepard dog and cooking. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Brother. He always was saying, “ Whatever Nan Wants.”

He is survived by his family, his wife Nancy Bezy, his sons, Ryan P. Bezy, and his wife Jami of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kevin M. Bezy, and his wife Jewel of Ellettsville, IN, his grandchildren, Clark Bezy, Evelyn Bezy and Liam Bezy. He will also be missed by his brothers and sisters, Karen Day, Mary Hall, and her husband Jody, Cathy Thompson, and her husband John, Tom Bezy, and his wife Mary, Patricia Blackburn, Leona Kotter, and her husband Denny, Mark Bezy, Paul Bezy, and his wife Jacqueline, Rose Harper, and Martha Land, and her husband Bill all of Vincennes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Gynthe Bezy, a brother Robert Bezy, his brothers in law, Jim Day, Mike Kahre, Gary Blackburn and Steve Harper.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at 12:30 PM Wednesday November 29, 2017 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Fr. David Fleck and Fr. Simon Natha officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of services at the Old Cathedral. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Good Samaritan Hospice.
