Obituary for Ellen Jane Wyatt
Ellen Jane (Nowaskie) Wyatt, 76, of Vincennes passed away Tuesday morning at GentleCare of Vincennes with her family at her bedside. Ellen Jane was born August 8, 1941 at home in rural Knox county. She was the daughter of Joseph and Philomena Bilskie Nowaskie. After she graduated from Decker High School she attended Indiana State University for a short time before starting her family. After raising her family she attended Vincennes University and earned an A.S. degree in Social Work. She worked at Vincennes University Generations/Older Hoosiers program until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Home EC Club and the Prayer Group. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, helped with the organization of the Loaves and Fishes, crocheting various items including large crocheted banners of the Lords Prayer and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. As an Artist she painted in water colors landmark barns of Knox County. She won various art competitions although she thought her paintings were not quite good enough.
She is survived by her family, sons, Brian R. Wyatt of Sebree, KY, Bruce A Wyatt and his wife Laura of Vincennes, IN and Brent E. Wyatt, and his wife Regina of Xenia, IL. Her grandchildren, Jordan Wyatt, Tyler Wyatt, Dylan Wyatt and Aaron Wyatt, Kylie Stewart and Jesse Stewart. Her brother, Joe Nowaskie of Vincennes, IN, her sisters, Norma Lee Vieke, and her husband Joe of Sharpsville, IN and Jeannie Linneweber, and her husband Wally of Vincennes, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Philomenia Nowaskie, her brother Harold Nowaskie and three sisters, Ann Rumage, Sue Easterday and Carolyn Nowaskie.
Services to celebrate her life will be held Saturday October 21, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral with Pastor Nan Dehmke officiating. She will be laid to rest in the St. Vincent Cemetery privately. The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 PM until the time of services at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Loaves and Fishes or to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
