Obituary for Emma C. (Holscher) Purcell
Emma C. (Holscher) Purcell, 92, passed away at Methodist Village North in Lawrenceville, IL. Emma was born November 1, 1926 in Knox County the daughter of Henry Francis and Emma Catherine Wetzel Holscher. Emma worked for over 42 years at Prestolite Battery putting the core of the battery together. She retired from Prestolite and began work at K-Mart retiring from there at age 85. She then began to work for various individuals as a housekeeper and lived her life her way. She was a good friend and would help anyone that needed her help. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Emma is survived by a sister, Mary Halter, and her husband Francis of Vincennes, two brothers Paul Holscher and Charles R. “Short” Holscher both of Vincennes, IN. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by 2 son’s in infancy, her parents, 3 brothers, Walter Holscher, William Holscher, Henry Francis Holscher Jr. and 3 sisters, Ruth Primus, Betty Williams and Loretta Halter.
Gravesite services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery with Fr. Donald Ackerman officiating where she will be laid to rest. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the family to assist with the expenses of her last illness. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist Emma’s Family.
