Obituary for Emmalene M. "Frey" Anthis
Emmalene M. "Frey" Anthis, 78, of Vincennes, passed away Saturday April 17, 2021 at Gentle Care Nursing Center with her family at her bedside. Emmalene was born November 30, 1942 in Vincennes the daughter of Henry W. and Irene Halter Frey. She was a graduate of St. Rose Academy and she married Frank J. Anthis on April 27, 1963 and they made their life together for 46 years until his death on January 18, 2010. She was office manager at Plant Food and Crop Production for many years and she was a member of the Old Cathedral/St Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grand mother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and talking to everyone she met. She was an example of a classic caring person to everyone.
Emmalene is survived by her children, Mary Angela “Angie” Bartholomew, and her husband Tom of Vincennes, IN, Greg Anthis, and his wife Carla of Wheatland, IN and Christina Carrie of Vincennes, IN. Her grandchildren, Clay Carrie, Abby Carrie, Blake Anthis, Logan Anthis and Cecelia Bartholomew and her great grandchildren, Allyson Beckort and Cooper Carrie. She is also survived by her brother, Denny Frey, and his wife Debbie of Shelbyville, IN, her sisters Delores Branham of Ann Arbor, MI, Bernadine Higgins, and her husband Lowell of Vincennes, IN, Joyce Fane, and her husband Rob of Terre Haute, IN, Peggy Henderson, and her husband Ron of Vincennes, IN, Marcella Montgomery of Vincennes, IN and her sister in law, Annie Frey of Vincennes, IN.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank W. Anthis, her parents Henry & Irene Frey and a brother Wayne Frey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday April 22, 2021 at 12:00 PM (Noon) at the Old Cathedral/St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Fr Tony Ernst officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Frank in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home.
