Obituary for Flo Ann Coker

Flo Ann Coker, 88, of Vincennes, passed away Monday May 19, 2024, at 11:10 AM at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Flo was born April 2, 1937, in South Bend, IN the daughter of William "Jack" and Flossie Gladys Keller Reece. She was a graduate of Switz City High School. After she graduated, she went to work at RCA in Bloomington. She agreed to go on a blind date and met and married the love of her life, Stanley M. "Pete" Coker, on May 26th, 1956 and they made their life together for 69 years. Throughout her life, she worked at Gossards and National Mobile Homes in Bicknell, until she left and went to work for R&B Rental helping many brides plan their wedding receptions and managing the overall day-to-day operations. After R&B Rental went out of business, she went to work for Dr. Gordon Green as a Medical Accounts clerk in Lyons, Indiana where she retired from her working career. In 2012 she and Stanley became members of the Freelandville Bethel Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

Over the years Flo loved being with people, in her spare time she went into people’s homes and helped them decorate their homes as a design specialist while working for Home Interiors and Gifts Inc. She also loved gardening, sewing, canning, crafting, and cooking for her family along with collecting many recipes. She loved going camping and fishing and taking care of her family.

Flo is survived by her husband, Stanley "Pete" Coker, their children, Brenda K. (Rick) Kerns of Bicknell, IN, Vicki (Robert) Phipps of Vincennes, IN, and Shelly (John) Trotter of Bicknell. Her beloved grandchildren, Cynthia (Ian) Slagle, Ryan (Erin) Kerns, Melissa (Kent) Schroeder, Josh (Hillary) Trotter, Travis (Kiersten) Trotter, Tonya Collins and Cody (Leslie) Phipps, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her brothers, Kenneth Reece of Martinsville, IN, Roy (Sharon) Reece of Worthington, IN, her sisters, Jackie Dotson of Worthington, IN, Ruth Bourqe of Wheaton, IL and Pam (Rick) Herrington of Linton, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother William (Billy) Reece and a sister Janice (Janie) Reel.

Funeral services will be celebrated at Bethel Church in Freelandville on Thursday May 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Pastors Brian Taylor and John Trotter officiating. She will be laid to rest in Marco Cemetery in Marco, IN. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 AM to the time of service at 1:00 PM at Bethel Church. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Bethel Church or St Jude Children's Hospital or Shriners Children's Hospital.
