Obituary for Francis X. Yochum Francis X. Yochum, 96, of Vincennes, passed away Wednesday April 16, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born December 8, 1917 in Vincennes the son of Bernard and Agnes Dahms Yochum. On October 4, 1947 he married Mildred C. Sievers and they made their life together for nearly 65 years until her death on July 15, 2012. He served his country during WW II in the U.S. Army having served in the 47th Infantry, 9th Division Company M and was captured and was a POW for nearly 2 years. He was a machinist and had extraordinary mechanical skills. He was a Lifemember of the VFW, American Legion, Ex POW�s, DAV and he was a member of the St. John Catholic Church. He was also preceded in death by his children, Edward F. Yochum and Diane Evans. He is survived by a sister, Bernadine Yochum of Vincennes and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, children Edward F. Yochum and Diane Evans, his parents, Bernard & Agnes Yochum, brothers, Sebastian and Harold Yochum. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday April 22, 2014 at the St. John Catholic Church with Fr. David Fleck officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife and children in the St. Vincent Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family 1 hour prior to the Funeral Mass at the St. John Catholic Church on Tuesday. Military gravesite honors will be conducted by the All Weather Firing Squad. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the St. Vincent Cemetery Fund.
