Frank D. Baracani, 82, of Vincennes, passed away Saturday November 9, 2024 at Aperion Care with his family at his bedside. Frank was born August 6, 1942 in Spring Valley, IL the son of Frank H. and Marie Smith Baracani. He was a graduate of Hall High School of Spring Valley, IL and he served this country in the U.S. Navy. He continued his education receiving a bachelor’s degree in Business and Finance from Cambridge School in Boston, MA. On February 19, 1972, he married Laura Peterson and they made their life together for 52 Years. He began his working career with First Federal Savings and Loan in Dixon, IL, attained serving as vice president, became the president of First Federal Savings and Loan of Springs Valley, IL and continued on to become the President of First Federal Savings and Loan of Vincennes. He also served on the board of directors of First Federal Savings and Loan in Vincennes, Vincennes University Board of Directors and the board of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He taught real estate classes while he was living in Dixon Illinois at Sauk Valley College. He held memberships in the Chamber of Commerce, Lifetime member of the Elks, Rotary, St. Paul Lutheran Church and various other organizations. He was an avid golfer, a diehard Cub's fan, enjoyed playing cards with his card group of Larry Eck, Dr. Charles Vieck and various other partners. He was a very kind giving soul all his life.
Frank is survived by his wife, Laura Baracani, their daughter, Tonya (Frank) Thomas of Vincennes, IN and Bill (Julie) Moritz of Dixon, IL. His grandchildren, Patrick W. Baracani Jr., Taylor McNeely, Vincent Baracani,, Frank Anthony ( Jessica)Baracani-Thomas, Giavanna Marie Baracani-Thomas, Seth Moritz, Issac Moritz, Luke Moritz, Hope Moritz and Katherine Moritz. He was also blessed with several great grandchildren. He is also survived by a Brother in Law, Wade (Carol) Peterson of Foley, AL.
He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Wade Baracani Sr., his parents, Frank H. and Marie Baracani.
A gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday November 16, 2024 at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM where a service will be held at 5:00 PM with Pastor April Dailey officiating. The family invites friends to celebrate Frank’s life with the passion he lived by sharing the memories of him. Memorial contributions in his memory, can be made to South Knox Art Department.
