Gerald M. Brumett, 87, of French Lick, IN passed away at his home June 1, 2022. Gerald was born June 23, 1934 in Washington, IN the son of Jesse E. and Edith R. Ashby Brumett. He was a graduate of Washington High School and began a career with the Penn Central/Con Rail Railroad where he worked as a conductor. He married Shirley A. Pact on June 23, 1953 and they made their life together for nearly 63 years until her in 2016. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Gerald is survived by his grandchildren, Mike Brumett, and his wife Melissa, Jesse Brumett, and his wife Deanna and Alicia Brumett. Daughter in Law, Janice Brumett, his great grandchildren, Elijah and Ryleigh Ennis, Jayden Brumett, Jayci Brumett, Trenton Brumett, Kyla Reed Brumett, Colleena and Joey Roach, William Brumett, Alexis and Devin Mitchell, Chyla Jo Hopper and his great-great grandchildren, Emerson Ennis and Ivory Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Brumett, their son’s, Rodney D Brumett, Randy J. Brumett and Jeffery M. Brumett, a great grandson, Nathan Hopper, His parents, Jesse and Edith Brumett, three brothers, Marvin Brumett, Billy M. Brumett, Harold R. Brumett and three sisters, Sue Schaffer, Delema Storey and Marjorie Patterson preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday June 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Bicknell Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Matt Hoffman officiating. Gerald will be laid to rest next to his wife, Shirley. Memorial contributions can be made to the donor’s charity of choice. Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel is honored to assist Gerald’s family during their time of loss.
