Obituary for Geraldine A. “Gerry” Westfall
Geraldine A. “Gerry” Westfall, 88, of Vincennes, passed away Monday evening at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Gerry was born July 16, 1929 in Vincennes the daughter of Lawrence P and Annis B Carie Ruppel. She was a 1947 graduate of St. Rose Academy and she worked as a seamstress at various downtown stores for several years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, former member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, K of C Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She married Hugh Westfall on April 23, 1949 and they made their life together until his death on April 16, 1997.
She is survived her children, Robert “Bob” Westfall and his wife Cindy of Vincennes, John Westfall, and his wife Joveeht of Anderson, IN and Susan J. Crouch, and her husband Danny of Chrisney, IN. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, 4 brothers, Thomas Ruppel of Vincennes, James Ruppel of Vincennes, Ronnie Ruppel, and his wife Mary Jo of Stendal, IN, Mike Ruppel, and his wife Angel of Linton, IN. 3 sisters, Barb Lindsey of Vincennes, Patricia (Pat) Elkins of Vincennes, Nancy Carter of Paragon, IN.
Gerry was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Westfall, her parents, a brother Bill Ruppel and a sister Rosemary .
A celebration of Gerry’s life will be conducted Thursday December 14, 2017 at 7:00 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest privately next to her husband in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Good Samaritan Hospital Dialysis Unit.
