Obituary for Harold J. Nowaskie Harold J. Nowaskie, 75, of Vincennes passed away Wednesday evening October 3, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital at 10:38 pm with his family at his bedside. He was born October 16, 1936 in Vincennes the son of Joseph M. & Philomena Bilskie Nowaskie. He was a 1954 Decker High School graduate and was a retired farmer and he also worked at Vincennes University in the maintenance department. He was a member of the St. John Catholic Church, 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus and he enjoyed being a home project supervisor for his family and anybody who needed help. He enjoyed discussing politics and any topic that came to mind. On June 14, 1956 he married Rita Bumgarner and they made their life together for over 56 years. He is survived by his wife, Rita Nowaskie, their family, Kathy Bahr, and her husband Richard of Terre Haute, IN, Eileen Trabant, and her husband Don of Oaktown, IN, Diane Wonning, and her husband Brad of Vincennes, Pam Cone, and her husband Mick of Freelandville, Dennis Nowaskie, and his wife Annette of Vincennes and Carolyn Brown, and her husband Jim of Vincennes. 17 grandchildren, Jarrod Bahr, Marcia Bahr, Trish Bahr-Isles, Curtis Bahr, Nick Trabant, Elizabeth Trabant, Daniel Trabant, Audra Cary, Jeff Wonning, Alan Wonning, Wesley Cone, Joshua Cummins, Tony Cummins, Victoria Crabtree, Mitchell Nowaskie, Dylan Brown and Breanna Brown. 12 great grandchildren, his sisters, Ellen Jane Wyatt of Vincennes, Norma Vieke, and her husband Joe of Sharpsville, IN and Jeannie Linneweber, and her husband Wally of Vincennes and his brother, Joseph A. Nowaskie of Vincennes, . Several nieces and nephews will also miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters, Carolyn Nowaskie, Sue Easterday and Ann Rumage. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday October 8, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the St. John Catholic Church with Fr. David Fleck officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 until 7 PM Sunday October 7, 2012 at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home where a parish prayer service will be conducted at 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to St. John Catholic Church Building Fund or the Sisters of Providence at St. Mary of the Woods, Terre Haute, IN.
