Obituary for Harriet M. Gartner Harriet M. Gartner, 91, of Vincennes, IN, passed away January 26, 2013 at 1:59 PM at the Good Samaritan Hospital with her family at her bedside. She was born April 14, 1921 in Vincennes the daughter of Raymond & Anna Speth Kaiser. She married Leo �Shorty� Gartner on August 28, 1946 and they made their life together until his death on Feb 2, 1974. She retired from K-Mart after 15 years. She was a lifelong member of St. John Catholic Church and was a member of St. Anne�s Altar Society, K of C Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing euchre, being with her family and the reunions of the Speth & Kaiser Families. She is survived by her daughters, Mary McCormick, and her husband Joe of Freelandville, IN, Darlene Odette, and her husband Donald of St. Joseph, MO, Charlotte A. Fredrick, and her husband Donald of Vincennes and Catherine M. Butler of Ludlow, IL. Her grandchildren, Joe David & Trudy McCormick, Connie & Irv Lockhart, Christopher & Katie Fredrick and Allison Fredrick. Her step grandchildren, Eileen McClead and Donald Odette Jr. 4 Great Grandchildren and 3 Step Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Rita Leeper, and her husband Tom of Indianapolis, IN. She was preceded by her husband, her parents, 2 brothers, Richard Kaiser and Robert Kaiser and 2 sisters, Leona Duke and Bernadine Crock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday January 29, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the St. John Catholic Church with Fr. David Fleck officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday January 28, 2013 from 4 to 8 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the St. John Catholic Church or the Freelandville Community Home.
