Obituary for Helen L. Scarber
Helen L. Scarber, 71, of Bicknell, IN passed away July 25, 2024 at her residence with her family at her bedside. She was born April 23, 1953 in Vincennes, IN the daughter of George James and Helen M. Nichols Emmons. Helen was a high school graduate and began her working career in food service as a cook. She formerly worked at Crestview Nursing Home, Bicknell Head Start and various institutions in the area. She married John W. Scarber on June 6, 1981 and they made their life together until his death on August 15, 2019. She attended Bethany General Baptist Church.
Helen is survived by her son James L. (Sharyl) Emmons of Bicknell, IN, a step son, Robert Hiser of Bicknell, IN her grandchildren, Aja Emmons, Richard (Giovanni Martines) Emmons, Bradley (Chelsea) White, Kayla White and Brianna (Robert) Bustos. 4 great grandchildren and a brother, William Messer of Wheatland, IN also survive.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kersandra Scarber, her parents, George and Helen M. Emmons and a brother, James Richard Emmons.
Services are private per her wishes and donations can be made in her memory to the donor's charity of choice. Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel is honored to assist Helen’s family during their time of loss.
