Obituary for Jack L. Parker
Jack L. Parker, 80, formerly of Bicknell, passed away in Evansville on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 7:46 AM CST. Jack was born June 11, 1941 in Washington, Indiana, the son of Dale and Ellen Christine Arthur Parker. He attended Ben Davis High School, and began a career in freight distribution; later in the funeral and emergency response services. He married Lynda Chambers on October 19, 1962, and they made their life together for over 59 years. He later worked for Hoosier Gas/Vectren, and retired after more than 30 years. He was a member of Bicknell United Methodist Church, The French Club, and Bicknell/Edwardsport Masonic Lodge where he served as past master and 42 degree mason. He worked for several years as an associate of Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Funeral Home before moving to Evansville. He served his community as a member of Bicknell City Council and the Vigo Township Fire Department.
Jack is survived by his wife, Lynda Chambers Parker, their children, Anne R. Wood, and her husband Barry of Evansville, IN, Jack L. Parker Jr. and his wife Pam of Greenfield, IN, and Jon C. Parker, and his wife Staci of Lewisburg, TN. His grandchildren are Ashley Fischer, Wyatt Parker, Brennan Parker, Robert Wood, and Leann Hancock. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, a brother, Dale Richard (Rick) Parker and his wife Molly of Vincennes, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bob Parker and a sister Janice Muharin.
Funeral services will be celebrated Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jon McKinnon officiating at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel in Bicknell. He will be laid to rest in the Asbury Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Knox County CASA program. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist Jack's family during their time of loss.
