Obituary for James William Hooten Jr. James William Hooten Jr., 89, of Bicknell, IN, passed away November 28, 2012 at 3:40 AM at the New Willow Manor Health Campus. He was born June 16, 1923 in Bicknell, IN the son of James William Sr & Winnie Pearl Sanders Hooten. He retired from Con Rail Railroad. He married Lelia A. Robinson on March 16, 1946 and they made their life together for over 66 years. He served his country during WW II in the U. S. Army and he held membership in the French Club and the VFW. He formerly attended the Salvation Army. He is survived by his wife, Lelia A. Hooten, their children, James W. Hooten, and his wife Nancy of Bicknell, Ray Hooten, and his wife Alice of Bicknell, IN and Shannon Morgan also of Bicknell. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Brenda Slater and Linda Parker,2 grandsons, Roger Parker and James Ryan Slater and 3 great grandchildren. He was also preceded by 2 brothers, Grover Hooten and Elwood Hooten and 2 sisters, Julie Crouse and Bertha Overbey. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday December 1, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel with interment in the Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. Pastor Jon McKinnon will officiate. Gravesite military honors will be conducted by the All Weather Firing Squad. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the donor�s charity of choice.
