Obituary for Jeffery Joseph “Bags” Pierce
Jeffery Joseph Pierce, 57, of Bruceville, IN passed away on Monday March 26, 2018 at I.U. Methodist Hospital at 9:20 AM. He was born in Olney IL on January 2nd, 1961. The 3rd of five boys to Doctor William and Genevieve Pierce.  He grew up outside of Bruceville IN. Going to school at North Knox. He wrestled becoming a terror as a heavy weight, and played football being apart of the only team to go undefeated for North Knox  in 1978 with a record of 9-0. It was one of the proudest moments of his life. Jeff would graduate high school in 1979. He would go on to be a construction worker, carpenter, and truck driver.  For any who knew him best. Truck driving was his passion. A Philosopher once wrote; A great man does not remind us of anyone else. Jeff Pierce fits that description.  He was a great man. A loving father, husband, friend, and coach.

He married to Sheila Shereen Pierce (Edwards) on October 11, 1986.  One year later on October 25,1987 they would be blessed with a son Hunter Joseph Pierce. In 1999 he would take part in help creating the youth football league in North Knox. Becoming the head coach for the Cowboys. This would lead him to becoming a coach for the school of North Knox.  He went on to coaching wrestling with his childhood friend and man who introduced him to my mother, Butch Byrer. At the same time he became an assistant coach for the football team as well. Helping with the Jr.  High team and Linemen coach for the high school team. In 2004 he would become the head coach for the North Knox Warrior football team. After that he continued his career in coaching as an assistant coach. In all he spent 16 years coaching football and wrestling.  His second passion, one, which I believe, he enjoyed more then truck driving was to coach, mentor, and develop boys into men.

Jeff is survived by his wife and son Shereen Pierce, and Hunter Pierce. His mother Genevieve “Jenny” Pierce, brothers John Pierce, and his wife Mary of Noblesville, IN and Charlie Pierce of Dennison, IL. He will be missed by several nieces and nephews and all of those life he touched by his coaching.

There will be a visitation with his family on Monday April 2, 2018 at the North Knox High School where the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM . A Gravesite service will be held on Tuesday April 3, 2018 at Sugarland Memorial Cemetery in Washington, IN at 11:00 AM where James Berry will officiate. He will be laid to rest next to his mother in law. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the North Knox High School Football Program. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist the family.
