Obituary for Jesse J. Evans Jr.
Jesse J. Evans Jr., 93, of Vincennes, passed away at his home Saturday June 25, 2022 with his family at his side. Jesse was born June 28, 1928 in Palmyra, IN the son of Jesse Sr. and Hazel Shaner Evans, He and his brother, Marshall, owned and operated Evans Salvage for many years. He was a devout Christian who practiced his faith in his everyday life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed, traveling, he was a platinum member of Carnival Cruse lines, Bowling, and he bowled a perfect game at Ft. Sackville Bowling Lanes on July 3, 1980, and where he married Jackie Hill on March 20, 1993, on the very lanes he bowled his perfect game. He enjoyed playing bingo anywhere there was a game going, playing pool in his early years with the local pool sharks and being with his family. During his working years, he considered Dumes Salvage Yard as his second home. He also enjoyed collecting baseball cards and giving them to kids of the community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Jackie Evans, his children, Jeremy Crosby (Renee), Tiffany Crosby (John Smith), Annastaisa Crosby all of Vincennes, Tracey Crosby (Rob) of Bloomington, IN and Kendra Crosby of Vincennes. Grandchildren, Ivyee Crosby, Claire Crosby, J. J. Crosby, Corey Crosby, Aiden Haggard, Owen Haggard, 11 other grandchildren and great grandchildren and his 2 grand dogs, Baxter and Max.
Jesse was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Adea Hope Shaw, his parents, Jesse Sr. and Hazel Evans, a brother, Marshall Evans and 4 sisters, Mildred Reel, Juanita Blake, Amelie Smith and Elnor Evans.
Funeral services will be held Thursday June 30, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the family to assist with expenses of his last illness.
