Obituary for Jo Ella Swan Jo Ella Swan, 79, formerly of Bicknell passed away Wednesday October 22, 2014 at 8:15 PM with her family at her bedside. Jo was born April 19, 1935 in Bicknell the daughter of Walter H. and Capitola E. O�Dell Harting. She lived most of her childhood years during the depression, poor and hungry. She retired as a social worker for the Indiana Dept of Family Services after a diverse career serving others. She was a member of the Bicknell Nazarene Church and she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time with her children, grandchildren and her sisters. She married Robert Graves and Harry Swan and both preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Lucinda T. Graves of Glendale, AZ, Robert W. Graves, and his wife Donna of Bicknell, IN, Marlene J. Sampson, and her husband Robert of South Charleston, OH, Nathan Graves, and his wife Lorraine of Chattanooga, TN and Andrea Duncan, and her husband Keith of Oaktown, IN. Her grandchildren, Deanna Brown, Brandon Graves, Ryan Sampson, Josiah Graves, Bryon Duncan, Jessica Chittenden, Josh Reintjes, Christian Duncan and Kaitlin Gray. Her great grandchildren, Leo Graves, Carson Murray, Adalyn Murray, Kayla Chittenden and Jayda Chittenden. Her brother, Billy Joe Harting, her sisters, Rose Summers, Shelby Junod, and her husband Bill both of Bicknell, IN, Elcie Mae Adams of Shelbyville, IN and Helen Chambers of Odon, IN also survive. She was preceded in death by her husbands, a grandson, Lucas Sampson in 2012, her parents, a brother, Jackie Lee Harting and a sister, Phyllis Ann Gieger. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday October 25, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel with Pastor John Moreland officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Edwardsport Town Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to Christar Missions through the funeral home.
