Obituary for John C. Yochum
John C. Yochum, 77, of Vincennes, passed away Tuesday April 17, 2018 at 3:30 am at the Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born in Knox County Indiana the son of Aloysius A and Bertha Speth Yochum. On May 20, 1967 he married Carol Fox and they made their life together for over 50 years. John was a mechanic at Vincennes Tractor and the Knox Co. Hiway Dept, and he was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Indiana Civil Defense, where he attained the rank of Captain. John was active at St. John where he was a Eucharistic Minister, served as an usher, a former choir member and a 4th degree member Knights of Columbus where he served as Faithful Navigator and District Deputy.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Yochum, children, John A. Yochum, and his wife Kathy of Ft. Collins, CO, Mary Anne Ater, and her husband Kent of Lanesville, IN and Jeanette K. Baysingar, and her husband Jerry of Wellington, CO. His grandchildren, Kenneth Ater, Christopher, Ater, Michael Ater, Ryan Ater, Andrew Yochum, Alexander Yochum, Eric Yochum, Matthew Yochum, Gabrielle Baysingar, Addisyn Baysingar, and Reagan Baysingar. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Bryce Ater, Sierrah Ater, his brothers, Lawrence Yochum, and his wife Barb of Henryville, IN, Ray Yochum and his wife Shirley of Vincennes, his sister, Veronica West and her husband Lawrence of Vincennes, IN. He is also survived by his sisters in law, Mary Jeannette Yochum, Annette Birk, Kathy Small a brother in law, Marty Fox. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, Alois H Yochum, Paul Yochum, James Yochum, George Yochum, Bob Yochum and a sister Helen Ann Bouvy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday April 21, 2018 at 10:00 am at the St. John Catholic Church with Fr. David Fleck will be celebrant. He will be laid to rest in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday April 20, 2018, at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions in his memory can be made to Knight of Columbus or his church.
