Obituary for John Michael Hooten John Michael Hooten, 28, Bicknell, lost his battle with leukemia on May 11, 2013, At IU Medical Center in Indianapolis. John was born August 2, 1984, in Fort Campbell, Tennessee, to Raymond and Alice (Farrar) Hooten. John was a 2003 graduate of North Knox High School and was attending Vincennes University. He was proud to join the United States Air Force (security forces) in 2004,and was a member of the 66 SFS Hanscom AFB, in Massachusetts. He served tours of duty in Qatar and Afghanistan. John was an avid sports fan, and liked the Colts, Cardinals, Pacers, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. He also enjoyed playing video games and spending time with his family. He was a member of the French Club and VFW Post 1157. Surviving are his parents, Alice and Ray Hooten; his grandmother, Leila Hooten; four sisters, Sandra Campbell and her husband Gary of Bicknell, Christina Parker and her husband Dwayne of Coleman, AL, Jenny Hooten of Bicknell, and Angie Hooten of Bicknell; his nieces and nephews, Alyssa Shade and her husband Seth, Nikki Goff and her fianc�e, Tyler Thompson, D.J. Parker, Shelby Parker, Bailey Parker, Madison Parker, Breanna McAnelly, and Zack Hooten. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, James W. Hooten Sr. and his maternal grandparents, James H. and Rosie D. Farrar. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday May 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel with Pastor Jon McKinnon officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Bicknell Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors being presented by the Scott Air Force Base and the All Weather Firing Squad. The family will receive friends Tuesday May 14, 2013 from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Knox County Relay for Life.
