Obituary for Kathleen Marie Lane
Kathleen Marie Lane, 69, formerly of Bruceville, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2017 at her home in Noblesville, Indiana, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Kathy was born January 15, 1948 in Vincennes, the daughter of John C. and Elizabeth Williams Joyce. She graduated from St. Rose Academy, and received a Master’s Degree in Education. She taught at Washington Elementary School in Vincennes, as well as North Knox West Elementary School in Bruceville, and with her family owned and operated Jean Marie Dance Studio in Vincennes from 1989-2011. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, The Quilter’s Club of St. John, and ISTA.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Virgil E. Lane, whom she married on July 21, 1973, their children, Virginia Kuhn and her husband Brian of Atlanta, Indiana, and Deb Brugman and her husband Chris of Noblesville; grandchildren, Colin, Isaac, Simon, and Naomi Kuhn, and Cannon and Leo Brugman. She is also survived by her siblings, Sue Ellen Yancey, Carol Smith, John (Julie) Joyce, Sarah Joyce, Judy (Tony) Perry, and special sister-in-law Brenda Nowaskie and her husband Randy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Paul Joyce, and extended family Carl and Margaret Johnson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday July 17, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. John Catholic Church with Fr. David Fleck officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Sunday July 16, 2017 at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home in Vincennes. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Little Red Door Cancer Agency, 1801 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN 46202 or to the Knox Co. Public Library because of her love of reading.
