Obituary for Lawrence “Gene” DeLisle
Lawrence “Gene” DeLisle, 89, of Oaktown, passed away Saturday May 18, 2019 at Oak Village Nursing Center in Oaktown. Gene was born January 1, 1930 in Hammond, IN the son of Lawrence A. and Pansey Kennedy DeLisle. After graduation from High School, Gene was called to serve his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. Gene was a farmer and rural mail carrier for 31 years. He was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Legion, VFW, K of C, Elks, Odd Fellows, 40et8 and Harmony Society. He married Shirley Mae Lamb on July 8, 1952 and they made their life together for nearly 67 years.
Gene is survived by his wife, Shirley DeLisle, their children, Kim Couch, and her husband Jeff of Trenton FL, Toni Marie Garzolini, and her husband Robert of St. Mary of the Woods, IN, and Tracy Gene DeLisle of Oaktown, IN. He was blessed by 4 grandchildren, Laci Foley, and her husband Joey, Brandon DeLisle, and his wife Jessica, Mario Garzolini, and his wife Shay, and Talia Garzolini. His great grandchildren, Inora Garzolini, Serena Garzolini, Gavin Foley, Ivy Foley, Khalessi Foley, Sawyer Foley, Lilly Foley, Jude Mulkey and Wren DeLisle. He is also survived by 3 Nephews and 1 Niece.
Gene was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly DeLisle, his parents Lawrence A. and Pansey DeLisle and a sister, Barbara M. Cardinal.
Funeral Services will be celebrated Thursday May 23, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Fr. Donald Ackerman officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his daughter in the St. Vincent Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 to the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Heart to Heart Hospice or the Vincennes Pet Port. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist the DeLisle family during their time of loss.
