Obituary for Louis U. Bouchie Louis U. Bouchie, 78, of Vincennes, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014, at 5:10 p.m. at the New Willow Manor. He was born April 2, 1935, the son of Ulysses L. & Anna J. Cardinal Bouchie. He was a graduate of the Central Catholic High School class of 1953. Louis and Joretta Kirk were united in marriage on November 17, 1956 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. They made their life together for 49 years until her death on January 10, 2006. He was a former co-owner of Southern Illinois Drainage, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Lincoln High School Athletic Boosters and the Lincoln High School Academic Boosters. He and his wife were honored by the Diocese of Evansville as members of the Brute' Society. He served in the U.S. Army from December 1957 to November 1959, having been stationed in Germany. Louie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was an avid Vincennes Lincoln Alices and Indiana University Hoosiers basketball fan, a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, and he especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in various sporting activities at Franklin and Washington elementary schools, Clark Middle School, Lincoln High School, and Vincennes Cub League. He also enjoyed watching his granddaughter participate in choral activities at South Knox High School. He was particularly proud of the academic tradition his children and grandchildren established throughout elementary, middle, and high school as well as at Indiana University and Vincennes University. He is survived by his children; Kirk Bouchie and his wife, Becky, of Vincennes; Kent Bouchie and his wife, Claudia, of Bicknell, IN; and Kim Lane and her husband, Eric, of Vincennes. He was blessed with six grandchildren; Douglas Bouchie and his wife, Dr. Samantha Bouchie; David Bouchie and his wife, Meghan; Joshua Lane and his wife, Claire; Hillary Ransom; Zachary Lane; and Garrett Lane. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren; Nash Ransom, Jude Ransom, Cora Bouchie, Damon Bouchie, and Landon Bouchie; a brother, Paul Bouchie and his wife, Dixie, of Vincennes; a sister, Mary Margaret Dollahan and her husband, Albert "Red" Dollahan, of Vincennes; his brothers-in-law, Robert Kramer and Alfred Frey of Vincennes; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sue and James Catt of Hazelton, IN. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joretta, his parents, sisters Sylvia Jeanette Hess, Anna Lee Frey, Louella Kramer, and a sister in infancy, Mildred. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 31, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. William Traylor and Fr. Ron Kreilein officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Lincoln High School Athletic Dept. or the Vincennes Cub League.
