Obituary for Louise J. Geis
Louise J. Geis, 91, formerly of Vincennes passed away Tuesday May 15, 2018 at 5:24 AM at The Villas of Guerin Woods in Georgetown, IN with her family at her bedside. Louise was born July 2, 1926 in Vincennes the daughter of Grover C. and Perna Marie Dickerson Rumer. After graduating from Lincoln High School she went on to graduate from Deaconess School of Nursing. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from University of Evansville and her Masters degree in Nursing Administration from Indiana University. On October 10, 1959 she married Anthony L. Geis and they made their life together for 54 years until his death in 2013. She served in various capacities for over 30 years at Good Samaritan Hospital beginning as an instructor and retiring as Director of Nursing in 1983. She was a member of St. John Catholic Parish, the Altar Society, Indiana Society of Nursing Service, American Nursing Association and Beta
Sigma Omicron.
She is survived by her children, Anne Kimmel, and her husband Mark of Greenville, IN, Rose Marie Geis of Louisville, KY and Carolyn Geis of St. Paul, MN. Grandchildren, Mason Kimmel, Meredith Kimmel, Sydney Rose Geis, Benjamin Stevens and Rei Hanson. A sister, Joan Goodwin, and her husband Richard of Vincennes also survive.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a sister Betty L. Bush.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday May 19, 2018 at the St. John Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Fr. Simon Natha and Fr. John Geis officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends
from 4 to 7 PM Friday May 18, 2018 at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Providence Self Sufficiency Ministries, Memory Care Unit, 8037 Unruh Dr, Georgetown, IN 47122. Duesterberg-Fredrick is honored to assist the family.
