Obituary for Margaret C. ""Peggy" Toth
Obituary for Margaret C. �Peggy� Toth Margaret Claire (Peggy) Toth, 81, of Vincennes, passed away quietly in her sleep with her family by her side at Bridgepointe Health Center on Thursday, July, 16, 2015 after a courageous and long battle. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 24, 1934 to Clarence and Katherine (Donahue) Vogenthaler. She attended Immaculate Word Academy in St. Louis, and graduated with a Bachelor�s degree in Speech Therapy from St. Louis University and a Master�s degree in Speech Pathology from Indiana State University. She married William Robert (Bill) Toth on June 23, 1956 and they were together for over 59 years in Vincennes. Peggy was a speech and hearing pathologist for the Vincennes Community School Corporation for 42 years having helped many generations of students. She mentored dozens of student teachers that went on to also become speech therapists and/or pathologists. Besides teaching, she enjoyed cooking, canning, and performing volunteer work. She was a very active member of the Rivet Circle #309 Daughter�s of Isabella, serving as the board�s regent for many years. She was past president of the Knox County Council for Exceptional Children #492; a member of the Psi Iota Xi Philanthropic Association; an auxiliary member of the U.S.S. Vincennes Association, and numerous other charitable and educational organizations. She also helped organize yearly trips for many of the underprivileged students to Evansville where they were able to have ear tubes placed for free. She is survived by her husband and four sons, Tom and Paula of Spring, Texas; Jim and Lynn of Chrisney, Indiana; John and Lori of Clermont, Florida; Dave and Susie of Vincennes and daughter-in-law Diane of Edinburg, IN. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Katherine Hall, Jane Mehan and Mary Louise (Mitzi) Hoffmeyer; and brothers Thomas and Paul Vogenthaler; and two sons; Timothy William Toth and Daniel Robert Toth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday July 21, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Old Cathedral Catholic Church with Fr. David Fleck officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday July 20, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Old Cathedral Catholic Church.
