Obituary for Margaret S. "Peggy" Myers
Margaret S. "Peggy" Myers, 77, passed away Sunday October 17, 2021 in Newburgh, IN with her family at her bedside. Peggy was born November 30, 1943 in Washington, IN the daughter of Paul and Ruth Green Brouillette. She married Frederick L. Myers on Thanksgiving day in 1967 and they made their life together for nearly 30 years. Peggy was very active in her Catholic Faith her entire life including serving as Communion minister, Prison Ministry at Carlisle Prison, Church Collection Counter, Cursillo, Teens Encounter Christ (TEC), CHIRP, and Various Bible Studies. When Peggy moved to Vincennes, she worked at Strasse & Hastings (fine clothing store on Main Street). She also worked as bookkeeper at Lodge of the Wabash nursing home and Knox County Extension Agency. Her biggest passion was working along side Fred as a farmer's wife driving grain trucks & tractors, raising hogs and helping with anything around the farm as well as raising her two children and being a great cook. Peggy was blessed to travel to many destinations with family and friends including many overseas pilgrimages with St. Meinrad to Israel, Italy, Ireland, Austria/Germany, and Portugal/Spain as well as numerous trips throughout the US and Canada. Peggy's hobbies included gardening, flowers/landscaping, baking/cooking, sewing, volunteering at Good Samaritan Hospital and playing cards (Rummy and Euchre) with family and friends. Peggy was called home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Peggy is survived by her children, Carol Sue Myers of Newburgh, IN and Brian J. Myers, and spouse Michelle of Avilla, IN. a granddaughter, Ashley Myers, sisters, Cindy Brouillette and spouse Melanie of Villa Hills, KY, Connie Smoot and spouse Ed of Ft. Mitchell, KY and Pam Smith and spouse Curtis of Danville, IN and a sister in law, Carolyn Brouillette of Alexandria, AL
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Myers, her parents Paul and Ruth Brouillette and a brother, Paul Brouillette.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday October 21, 2021 at 11:00 AM in St. John Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Ernst officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday October 20, 2021 from 5 to 8 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to a Hospice organization of the donor’s choice or St. Vincent DePaul. Duesterberg-Fredrick is honored to assist Peggy’s family during their time of loss.
