Obituary for Martha E. “Vantlin” Althoff
Martha E. “Vantlin” Althoff, 81, of Vincennes, passed away at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville at 6:45 AM CDT Sunday November 5, 2017. Martha was born December 26, 1935 in Vincennes the daughter of Raymond and Elizabeth “Elsie” Wieling Vantlin. She was a graduate of Decker High School and she married James J. Althoff in April 16,1959 and they made their life together for over 58 years together. Martha worked at Hoosier Gas/Sigeco for many years as a Customer Service Representative. She held membership at St. John Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James J. Althoff, their children, James J. Althoff Jr. of Bruceville, IN, Morris H. Althoff of Bruceville, IN, Sandra K. Bloodworth, and her husband James of Evansville, IN, and Gregory L. Althoff of Bruceville, IN. Her grandchildren, Teaira Bloodworth, Steven Bloodworth, Amy Althoff, Cheyennena Althoff and Gregory Althoff Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Elsie Vantlin and 2 brothers, Ed Vantlin and a brother John Thomas in infancy.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday November 9, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Maxwell officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday November 8, 2017 from 4 to 8 PM at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John Lutheran Church in her memory.
