Mary J. Vieck, 95, of Vincennes, passed away Thursday October 10, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Hospital with her family at her bedside. She was born April 4, 1929 in Vincennes the daughter of Alex and Laura Botmans Valley. She was a 1947 graduate of St. Rose Academy and worked as an office secretary for Autolite. On November 6, 1948, she married Richard W. Vieck and they made their life together for nearly 68 years until his death. She held membership in St. Francis Xavier/St John Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and Past President of the Pink Ladies at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was very active in various church related activities, St. Vincent DePaul, Generations, Right to Life and worked bereavement dinners for the families of the parish.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Miller of Charleston, SC, David Vieck of Vincennes, Carol Hageman, and her husband Bernie of Tempe, AZ, Terry Vieck of Vincennes and Jackie Richardville, and her husband Bob of Vincennes. Her grandchildren, Tracy (Kyle) Howell, Jennifer Weber, Chris (Faith) Miller, Julie (Frank) Jung, Emily (Jared) Harts, Erin (Erich) Hageman- Schwald, Craig (Sarah) Vieck, Taylor (Megan) Vieck, Katie (Bud) Johnson, Kelly (Logan) Eck, Valerie (Doug) Rusch, Matt (Renee) Richardville, Adam (Jordan) Richardville and Kyle (Michelle) Richardville. She is also survived by 27 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard W. Vieck a son, Richard F. “Ricky” Vieck, a daughter in law, Kari Vieck, her parents, Alex and Laura Valley and a brother, Rene Valley
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday October 18, 2024 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Tony Ernst officiating at St. John Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Richard Vieck in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday October 17, 2024 at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with recitation of the rosary at the close of visitation. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Vincennes St. Vincent DePaul. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist Mary’s family during their time of loss.
