Obituary for Max R. "Dick" Snider
Obituary for Max R. Dick Snider Max R. Dick Snider, 68 of Vincennes, passed away May 27, 2013 in Colorado with his family at his bedside. He was born January 6, 1945 in Vincennes the son of Harry R. & Betty L. Carrie Snider. He was a 1963 graduate of Lincoln High School and he began his career as a tool and die maker with Johnson Controls. He loved life and adventure. He could ride and drive anything that would move. Horses, bicycles, antique cars, stock cars, NASCAR Cars, Indy Cars, Airplanes, motorcycles and motor homes. He always thought his biggest accomplishment was his 4 boys. He was always proud at what they did and encouraged them to do their best. Prior to starting Snider Body Shop, he and his brother, Don worked on automobiles. He was always interested in helping and encouraging others to develop their own business endeavors. Always the mechanic, he recently converted his motor home to run on used cooking oil. He and Margaret enjoyed traveling in the motor home so he could brag that it only cost him 10 gallons of diesel fuel to travel to Florida and back. His giving personality was he never wanted for himself, but to give to others. His favorite saying was Take a Kid out for Ice Cream. On December 1, 1962, he married his partner for life, Margaret Yochum and they made their life together for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Snider, their children, Richard Snider, and his wife Lori of Vincennes, Michael Snider Sr. of Vincennes, Duane Snider, and his wife Tonna of Carmel, IN and Dion Snider, and his wife Stephanie of Terre Haute, IN. Their Great grandchildren, Lane Willis and Raney Willis. His brothers, Don Snider, and his wife Margie Snider of Vincennes and Tom Snider, and his wife Phyllis of Sierra Vista, AZ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday June 3, 2013 at St. John Catholic Church with Fr. David Fleck officiating. He will be laid to rest in the St. Vincent Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Sunday June 2, 2013 at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Vincent Cemetery Fund, Make A Wish Foundation or as he would encourage someone, Take a Kid out for Ice Cream
