Obituary for Max Ray Kixmiller
Max Ray Kixmiller, 82, of Freelandville, IN, passed away Thursday afternoon at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Max was born November 13, 1936 in Freelandville, IN the son of Alvin and Alma Held Kixmiller. Max was a 1954 graduate of Freelandville High School and graduated Vincennes University in 1956. He then enrolled in Purdue University pursuing a engineering degree but his love of farming brought him back to his roots. He married Sara Ackman on September 1, 1956 and they made their life together for 63 years. He was a member of Bethel Church, Lifetime member of the Elks where he served as Exulted Ruler, District Deputy and was the treasurer at Bicknell Lodge 1421. He served his community of Freelandville as a past board member of Freelandville Community Home, Freelandville Water Assn and the Freelandville Improvement Assn. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His smiling demeanor was a gift to anybody who knew him.
Max is survived by his wife, Sara Kixmiller, their children, Curtis Allen Kixmiller, and his wife Patty of Freelandville, IN, John Paul Kixmiller, and his wife Cathy of Bruceville, IN and Jeffrey Ray Kixmiller of Freelandville, IN. His grandchildren, Lyren (Chris) Holstein, Alex (Lindsay) Kixmiller, Amanda (Mike) Dettloff, Kameron Kixmiller, Katie Kixmiller and Ian Kixmiller. He is also survived by 7 Great grandchildren, a sister, Lillian Clinkenbeard, and her husband John H. of Edwardsport, IN.
A gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday September18, 2019 at Bethel Church in Freelandville, IN with a service to conclude the celebration conducted by Pastor Mike DeCoursey. The Elks will conduct a memorial service following Pastor Mike’s service. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Church. The family requests that donations be made to the Elks National Foundation, 2750 North Lakeview Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614-2256 to help provide funds for continuing the community work of the Elks. The Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Homes are honored to assist the Kixmiller Family during their time of loss.
