Obituary for Maxine J. Banks
Maxine J. Banks, 73, of Vincennes passed away Sunday evening at the Good Samaritan Hospital with her family at her bedside. Maxine was born in Owsley Kentucky to Granville and Bessie Cauddel Johnson. She married Edward Banks on June 16, 1960 and they made their life together for 57 years. She worked for over 20 years and began work as the clerk of the Johnson Township Trustee. She was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother
Maxine is survived by her husband, Edward E. Banks, her children, Donald G. Banks, and his wife Melonie of Washington, IN and Lesa A. Holscher, and her husband Jeffrey of Vincennes, IN. Her grandchildren, Bonnie Fish and her husband Robert, Brittney Glass and her husband Adam and Aaron J. Banks. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Addisyn Glass, Jackson Glass and Madilynn Glass and a brother, Virgil Johnson, and his wife Lillie of Austin, Indiana
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Shelly Jo Banks Goodwin, her parents, Granville and Bessie Johnson, a brother, David Johnson, her sisters, Cora Ruth Clem, Virginia Donahue and Rev. Alice Bline.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday August 17, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the St. Thomas Catholic Church with Fr. David Fleck celebrant, Deacon Earl Ruppel and Rev. Fred Harrison. She will be laid to rest in the St. Thomas Church Cemetery next to her daughter Shelly Jo. The family will receive friends on Wednesday August 16, 2017 at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
