Obituary for Michael J. Hand
Michael J. Hand, 73, of Vincennes passed away Monday January 18, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Hospital with his family at his bedside. Mike was born June 13, 1947 in Vincennes the son of Paul and Geraldine Hoffman Hand. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and served the country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. He formerly worked at Schmidt Key Market and Perdue Inc. He married Donna Frederick on Jan 31, 1970 and they made their life together for almost 51 years. Mike was an active member of the VFW, American Legion,40 et 8, Moose and Eagles. He was Vice President of the Eagles and was a past President. He enjoyed his family and the trips to Las Vegas.
Mike is survived by his wife, Donna Hand, children, Christopher Hand, and his wife Melissa of Vincennes and Brian Hand of Vincennes. His grandchildren, Madelyne Stines, Kristie Hand, Katlian Hand and his great grandchildren, Adlynn Hand, Aliyah Hand and Athea Hand. He is also survived by a sister, Charlotte Wager, and her husband Jerry of Lawrenceville, IL and a brother Dave Hand, and his wife Sandra of Vincennes, IN.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Kayla Hand, and his parents.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday January 21, 2021 at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home at 2:00 PM with Pastor Alex Rudolph officiating. Mike will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at 2:00 PM. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic masks and social distance will be required. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home is honored to assist the Hand family during their time of loss.
