Obituary for Michael M. Newton Michael M. Newton went to be home with God January 21, 2016 at 4:41pm. Dad, Papaw, Santa Mike, Groove, Fig, and Mikel were all Mike. Born July 7, 1952 in Vincennes, IN to Grover Newton and Thelma Steimel- Newton. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1970 and attended Vincennes University. On May 27, 1973 he married Pamela R. Howell, and they made their lives together for 43 years. He worked for 30 years at Vincennes Steel Corp. and owned Newton Computers. He was an active member at the First Church of God in Vincennes, IN where he served as an usher, lead the men�s Bible studies, volunteered with the youth group and attended Church on the Street. In addition he was Santa which he did anytime he could, it was his passion, because he loved seeing the kids� faces when he showed up to an event. He belonged to the #1 Masonic Lodge and the Sword of Bunker Hill. He was a member of the Hoosier Santa�s, a member of the Knox County Board of Election. Knox County Red Cross, served as an EMT and he was also a member of the Tri-State Wood Carvers. He loved witnessing his life through the Lord and wanted everyone to know the way is just to believe, have faith and trust. Mike is survived by his wife Pamela R. Howell-Newton, his daughter Jennifer M. Newton- Salyers and her husband Bill, grandchildren Hannah Newton Salyers, Kalie Salyers, and Matthew Salyers. His two sisters Sharon Harris and Georgianna Coonrod and their husbands, a brother Kenny Newton and his wife, Brother and Sister-in-law Jim and Kim Howell, and many wonderful and loving nieces and nephews which he loved dearly. Funeral services will be celebrated Tuesday January 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Georg Karl, Pastor Fred Nocus, Pastor Rawlin Kegley officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Masonic Services will be held at 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to the Church of God or to the family to assist with medical expenses.
