Obituary for Orville W. �Bill� Lankford Orville W. �Bill� Lankford, 95, formerly of Bicknell, IN passed away on March 14, 2015 in Indianapolis, IN. He was born on March 14, 1920 in Edwardsport, IN, the son of Charles O. and Faye Cornelius Lankford. He was a 1939 graduate of Edwardsport High School and began his career with PSI/Duke Energy at the Edwardsport Generating Station, where he retired as a superintendent in 1985. On December 10, 1939, he married Mescal O. �Mickey� Head and they made their life together for 70 years until her death on July 30, 2009. He was a lifelong resident of the area and he moved to Indianapolis with Mickey to be near their son. He was a member of the Bicknell First Christian Church, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, he served on the board of directors for the Freelandville Community Home and was elected chairman, and a 50 year member of the Bicknell Elks 1421. He and Mickey enjoyed dancing together and on his birthday he joined Mickey for another dance through out eternity with his favorite dance partner. He is survived by his son, Rod Lankford, and his wife Rosezita of Indianapolis, IN, his beloved granddaughters, Kimberly Grice and Christina O�Brian and his great grandchildren, Ashley Grice, Tommy Grice, Kayla O�Brian and Connor O�Brian. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mescal O. �Mickey� Lankford, his parents, Charles O and Faye Cornelius Lankford, his brothers, Dallas Lankford and Kenneth Lankford and a sister, Dorothy Wollerman Powell. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday March 21, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel with Ron Barnes officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife in the Bicknell Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Thursday March 19, 2015 from 5 to 7 PM at Community Church at Murphy�s Landing, 7401 S. Harding St. Indianapolis, IN and on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of services at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel in Bicknell. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Bicknell Christian Church.
