Obituary for Paul C. Brunson
Obituary for Paul C. Brunson Paul C. Brunson, 78, passed away at his home Thursday. He was born in Bridgeport, Illinois, the son of Fred J. and Ella Josephine (Stilley) Brunson. He was a graduate of St. Francisville High School. On June 11, 1960, he married Dixie Dougherty and they made their life together for 54 years. He served his country in the Army National Guard where he played basketball with Elgin Baylor. He played basketball at Vincennes University for Alan Bradfield, and was graduated from Good Samaritan Hospital Radiology School in 1963. After receiving his certification, he worked for over 32 years at Good Samaritan Hospital as a registered radiology tech and retired in 1992. He went on to serve as director of the Daviess Community Hospital Radiology Department, where he worked another 19 years, before retiring again in 2011. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He formerly coached basketball for the elementary and junior highs of the Catholic schools. He coached local all-star teams, and in 1973 helped organize and coach the first girls basketball team at Clark Middle School for the Vincennes School Corporation. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and was looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, golfing, sports, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Dixie Brunson; their children, Dennis Brunson and his wife Melody of Washington, Paula Westfall and her husband Mitch of Vincennes, Robin Adair and her husband Andy of Columbus, and Julie Webster and her husband Mark of Vincennes; his grandchildren, Madison Brunson, Mariah Brunson, Christopher Westfall and his wife Kara, Katie Westfall, Natalie Green and her husband Ryan, Shelby Perry, Amber Tedrow and Justin Tedrow; his brothers, Don Brunson and his wife Norrita of Russellville, Arkansas, Dean Brunson and his wife Joyce of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Bob Brunson and his wife Judy of Clarksville, Arkansas; and his sister, Geraldine �Geri� Schrader of Robinson, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers James Brunson and Joseph Brunson in infancy; his sisters, Margaret Wallace and Zetta Brunson in infancy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Fr. David Fleck officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Plainville Cemetery, in Daviess County. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Rivet Lady Patriots Basketball Program.
