Obituary for R. Vance Tarrant
R. Vance Tarrant, 81, of Vincennes passed away Saturday January 27, 2018 at the Gentle Care Nursing Center with his family at his bedside. Vance was born December 24, 1936 in Bartlesville, OK the son of Roland “Mickey” and Velma F. Kimbal Tarrant. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Lincoln, NE, Southern Illinois University having received a bachelors’ degree in business. He and his father were founders of Tarrant Oil and was an oil jobber in the Vincennes area. He held memberships in the Elks, American Quarter Horse Assn and the Indiana Oil Marketers. He married Beverly Poth on July 1, 1960 and they made their life together for over 57 years. Vance served his country in the U. S. Army Reserves.
Vance is survived by his wife, Beverly Tarrant, their children, Teri Smith, and her husband Brent of Terre Haute, IN, Steven Vance Tarrant, and his wife Robyn of Sarasota, FL and Sue Ellen Kaven, and her husband Bill of Lake Villa, IL. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tara Michelle Dunnick, Brie Joyce, Zach Vickery, Kyle Joyce, Wyatt Tarrant, Morgan Tarrant, Kara Vickery, Kait Vickery, his great grandchildren, Aly Payne, Harper Lang, Skeet Dunnick, Olivia Lang and a sister, Shelia Pizzaro of Littleton, CO.
Vance was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday February 1, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to Parkinson's Disease Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
