Obituary for Raymond E. Ravellette Jr.
Raymond E. (R.E.) Ravellette, Jr., 69, departed this life on March 17, 2016 at 2:15 AM to embark on yet another adventure. R.E. was the first son, and one of six children, born to Raymond E., Sr., and Shirley Jean Thomas Ravellette. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents and his younger brother, Timothy M. Ravellette. R.E. is survived by his daughter, Lisa, wife of Kevin Hastings; three grandchildren, Ashley, wife of Ryan Allen, Morgan Hastings and Cole Hastings; two step-children, Amanda Mullins Welton and Dustin Welton-Spidel; his sisters, Rae Jean, wife of Frederick L. Armstrong, and Yvonne M. St.Clair; two brothers, Daniel L. Ravellette and Anthony W. Ravellette as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. R.E. was a life-long Roman Catholic, attending both Sacred Heart School and Central Catholic High School in Vincennes, Indiana. As an entrepreneur, R.E. participated in a variety of business activities and occupations. He was the proprietor of five businesses: Charlie�s Smorgasbord and Raymond�s Lounge in Olney, Illinois, Custom Trim, the Manhattan Tavern and Cooper�s Tavern in Vincennes. He also was a sales representative for National Life Insurance, Filter Queen Vacuum Cleaners, Sysco Foods and Memering Buick, Bryant Chevrolet and Dick Leonard Ford in Vincennes, receiving several sales awards while employed at the aforementioned businesses. Additionally, he was involved in the transportation business as both a proprietor and a Teamsters Union driver. R.E. was an avid boater as well as a member of the Vincennes Boat Club for numerous years, rising to the position of Commodore of the organization. He enjoyed drag racing and raced his own cars at various venues in the area. He was also a member of the Harmony Club of Vincennes, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, the Sons of the American Legion and the Loyal Order of the Moose. Funeral Services will be celebrated, on Sunday March 20, 2016 at 3:00 P. M. with Father William Traylor officiating. The family will receive friends at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home from 11:30 A.M. until the time of services. Burial will be announced at a later date. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul rest in peace. Amen
