Obituary for Rev. LTC Albert LeRoy Kimball U.S. Army Rtd. Rev. LTC Albert LeRoy Kimball U.S. Army Rtd., 85, of Vincennes, passed away Wednesday June 22, 2016 at 6:35 EDT at the United Methodist Village North Campus in Lawrenceville, IL. Pastor was born October 18, 1930 in Cincinnati, OH the son of Maxwell C. and Emma L. Miller Kimball. He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati having earned a bachelors degree in chemistry, a masters degree in aerospace engineering and a masters degree of divinity. He served his country in the U.S. Army from Sept 1951 to May of 1973 having attained the rank of Lt. Colonel. He served in the Korean War and Vietnam. He earned the Bronze Star for Valor and the Legion of Merit. He married Joy Kimmerle and they made their life together until her death on Nov 15, 1996. He served as pastor of St. Peters Lutheran Church for 8 years until his retirement, Faith Lutheran Church for 7 years and also as a substitute pastor at numerous Lutheran Churches. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lawrenceville, the VFW Post 1157 were he was a life member and served as chaplain, a life member of American Legion Post 107, the 40 et8 and the University of Cincinnati Alumni Association. He is survived by his children, Laurel E. Hembree of Vincennes, Damion Kimball of Vincennes, IN. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a sister, Mary A. Keebler of Royal Oak, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Kimball, 2 son John Kimball and David Kimball, a daughter, Anne Ruston, a sister Arletta Kimball and a brother, Dr. Max Kimball M.D.. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be conducted Saturday June 25, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Pastors Erich Knippa, Pastor Nathan Rastl and Pastor Allen Kramp officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Joy in the Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the members of All Weather Firing Squad. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM EDT until the time of services at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Our Savior Lutheran Church, Lawrenceville, IL in his memory.
